What are they?
Verbal Reasoning tests are designed to assess the ability to think and reason using words and language. Candidates can be assessed on word meanings and associations, language coding questions and the ability to interpret information to provide a logical conclusion.
Why is it used?
If a role involves communicating and/or reading instructions, then this type of test is commonly used.
What are the limitations?
This type of test can often under-estimate a persons’ ability if he or she is not fluent in the language it is presented in. Those who aren’t exposed to much written material or who don’t read often as part of their jobs can also be disadvantaged.
